“Whoa...” Edward breathed almost silently, reverently taking in the sights around him. I was standing a few feet behind him as he staggered forward after sliding off my back. He looked stunned; the expression on his face was worth gold as he looked around, slowly stepping closer to the edge of the little clearing. I moved up behind him and swiftly cut him off from entering the meadow. Turning on my heels, I spun gracefully to face him before shuffling backwards into the clearing through a gap in the trees.

It was a sunny day in Forks, and I was taking a big chance on being out in public. I’d risked going to school, thinking that I could lurk around until lunch-time when I’d have to leave anyway. My plan had worked quite well and as I slinked through the car park, I made it to the car just before the end-of-class bell rang, slipping into the driver’s seat as the first waves of students appeared, making the most of the good weather. I had an hour and a half to wait before the end of school and decided against going for a little joy ride, and instead, sat and read through my biology
